Welcome to Zenful Dance!
This series is an introduction to Zenful Dance breath movement meditation (although students at all levels of meditation practice are welcome). Students are invited to take a single class, part or all of the 8-week series.
Zenful Dance is a gentle 7-part meditation practice based on the awareness of natural breath flow. This awareness of natural breathing, combined with basic movements used to create a visual extension of the breath, allows qualities of the breath (i.e. inconsistencies or unevenness) to become more clear to the practitioner, building a mindful foundation for the practice. Zenful Dance is performed in three sections: alone, with a partner and in a group. The purpose of Zenful Dance is to bring about self-awareness, joy, dedication, compassion, empathy, peaceful resolution and ultimately, the release of oneself from suffering.
Loose, comfortable pants and shirt without loud patterns/colors are recommended and barefoot is ideal although socks will work too. Zafus and zabutons (meditation cushions) will be provided at no cost to you but you are welome to bring your own.
